Reference to the files shows that on March 1. 1940, the export schedule stood at. 6*d. for baconers and 5Jd. for porkers. Top port charges were given as 1/6 on average pigs. In conversation with a local curer 1 was advised that baconers over 1601 b. were no good to the local trade and lie protested ’strongly that many pigs were “too, too fat. Baconers must be lean and no sides over 4OII>. are wanted,” he declared.
