As a result of the pooling of receipts of Hie main British railway systems from September 1. 1939. by Government order, tlie estimates for the year ended December 31. 1949. show a total income of £247.992.990 and an expenditure of £203.180.000. leaving a net revenue of £44.512,000 The net revenue for the full year guaranteed by the Government was £39,850,000.
