BALLOON BARRAGE

Including an enemy raider brought down by collision with ;. balloon cable, the balloon barrage has destroyed three night raiders in eight days this mouth, stales the Air Ministry news service. The two others were shot down by gun crews of the balloon barrage. The engines of the raider which crushed into a balloon cable failed after a tierce flash was seen in the sky, and the plane fell into the sea. Three nights later the crew of a bar rage balloon opened fire ou enemj bombers. immediately there was an explosion and a sheet of flame, and an aircraft dived into the sea about a mile and a half away. Another balloon barrage brought dowu a third bomber live nights later. The gin. crew held their fire till the machine was directly overhead, when they opened up and registered hits on it. Shortly afterward the bomber burst into fiames and crashed.
'Though they are normally at work on balloons, the crew of the balloon barrage are trained iu gunnery.
