New Zealanders Missing And Killed SE V ERA I , WE LLI N GTON NAMES 'Lite following air casualties were announced last evening: — Flying Officer Ronald William Gair, R.A.F., missing on air operations. Flying Officer Gair was educated at Napier Boys’ High School. He was accepted for a short service commission in the R.A.F. in the early part of 1939. Father: Mr. C. J. Gair, C/o. Government Audit Department. Wellington. Flight Lieutenant Desmond Wallace Ferguson Barker, D.F.C., R.A.F., killed in air operations. Father-. Mr. S. R. Barker, Gisborne. Pilot Officer Ronald Owen Lawry, previously reported missing, now presumed killed. Father: Mr. 11. B. Lawry, 5 Wai-ill Avenue, Lower Hutt. Pilot Officer Murray Charles Petrie, previously reported missing, now presumed killed. Father: Mr. F. I’etric, 127 Coromandel Street, Wellington. Pilot Officer Kenneth John Allan Johnstone, previously reported missing, now presumed killed. Father; Mr. J. L. 8. Johnstone, Russell Road. Manurewa, Auckland. Sergeant Douglas Ijawrence Burton was reported missing, and later he was reported prisoner of war and wounded. A message lias been received from him stating he was in hospital and making excellent progress. Mother: Mrs. J. P. Burton, Opunake, Taranaki. The following casualty to the N.Z.E.F. was also announced:— Sapper Ronald Ernest Groves, died of sickness. Next-of-kin: Mrs. R. E. Groves, Brunswick Avenue, New Soul ligate, London (Mother).
