ißy I'elegt-apb—-Press Association.! WAIHL February 20. .Now in his eighteenth consecutive year of office, the mayor of Walin. Mr. W. M. Walliinlt. announced at a meeting of tlie Waihi 'Borough Council last evening liiat he would not lie a candidate ar the mayoral election in May. Mr. Wallnutt was elected mayor in 11)211. defeating the then sitting ma.Cor, Mr. Dawson Donaldson, by a majority of 5117 votes. Since then lie has been returned by large majorities on each occasion, im-lttding a majority of S2I in 1935. At the elections of 1921). 1931 and 11)33 he was returned unopposed.
