HOSPITAL LIBRARY
Loss Of Books Causing
Concern The loss of books from the Wellington Publie Hospital library is causing the Wellington Hospital Ladies’ Auxiliary grave concern, because of the difficulty 'in obtaining replacements. The auxiliary, under whose auspices the hospital library exists, appeals to patients not to lend books or to take them away with them when they are discharged from hospital.
During the past, year about 300 books disappeared from the hospital and only about. 10 of these were ever returned. Al! the books bear the stamp of the hospital library, which makes it unlikely that volumes might have been taken away in error.
"I feel sure that books would not disappear if patients realized the difficulty we have in keeping the library supplied with up-to-date residing matter," said a member of the auxiliary yesterday. "Perhaps they do not appreciate that by taking the books away with them I hey are only spoiling the chances of other patients enjoying the same privilege that they themselves had."
The auxiliary is grateful to all who donate books to the hospital library am! will gladly receive further donations.
