Forgot His Gasmask i Received February 19. 7 p.m.; LONDON, February 18. A schoolmaster in Nottingham who came to school without bis gasmask was caned by one of hi; pupils. The master had threatened to cane any boy who forgot to carry his gasmask. and lie agreed that if he himself forgot liis mask the pupils could select one of their number to punish him in the same way. Arriving without his gasmask one morning, tlie master meekly held out his hand while the biggest pupil in the school caned him.
