Universities In Britain (British Oflicial Wireless.) ('Received February 19, 7 p.m.) RUGBY, February 18. In view of the importance of maintaining as far as possible the standards of university education and the essential contribution the universities are making in a variety of -ways toward the national effort, the Government has decided to maintain its grant, for the current year at £2,149,000, which is on the same level as that given in 19:19. This was announced in the House of Commons today by Ihe Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir Kingsley Wood. AIR TRAINING MEMORIAL FOR AMY JOHNSON (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 18. An appeal for funds to found a scholarship for aviation for women is being launched by the Women’s Engineering Society as a memorial to Amy Johnson. It. will be the first provision ever made for women lo attain professional standard in aviation except at their own expense.
