DOG MEAT AS BEEF
Suspicions In Japan KOBE, December 27. Suspecting that some Tokio butchers are meeting the beef famine by selling dog meat, Hie Aletropolitati Police Board Das launched a drive. 'The suspicion of the police wa.s aroused when they learned that some 550 kilos of dog lleslt had been sent to Kawagoslti station, in the suburbs of the capital, front Yokohama. They believed that there was only one answer to the question where the flesh went—that it was being distributed to butchers in Tokio to be sold as beef. The police were confronted with a similar problem some time ago when it was discovered that the people in Tokio were eating cats’ meat under tlie impression that it was good beef.
