The gate receipts showed an increase of £54 for the two days over last year's figures, despite the fact that last year's figure was considered excellent. The grand parade, as usual, provided an impres-sive array of stock, and testified to the quality of animals bred in the Wairarapa anil in neighbouring districts. Blair, said entries were down, bin the quality was high and the competition very close. The champion ram was a very line animal, well-developed and well grown, with splendid feet and bone and a good carcase. The reserve was only slightly inferior. The champion ewe was outstanding, with a great body and excellent fleece. "I would inn to have seen a lot more competition in the Ryelaml section,” said the judge, Mr. W. J. Allen, Palmerston North. "The winning sheep were verygood specimens of the breed, however, specially in the aged and iamb classes.” "Entries and quality were both good,” said the judge of the open Sonthdowns, .Mr. W. J. Gimblett, Hastings. "The ehampion ram was a particularly line animal, low set. and with good lines, ami the big entry in the pens of four Hock rams wan of universally high standard. 'The lambs were not a good class, but there were several good sheep among the Hock rams." In welcoming back to the show, the entries from the estwe of E. Short. Feilding, the Hereford judge, Mr. J. M. James, said this cattle would gain awards in any company. The animals exhibited were of excellent type and were fit to stand up before any judge. “'The number of Milking Shorthorn entries was disappointing, but the general quality was good.” said the judge, Mr. TV. E. Barber. Shannon. "'The champion I hull. Ke.ci 11 Wright, was a superior type of bull, duh good body and good lines. 4’llo reserve champion was a nice bull showing tonsitlerable quality.”
