A cable received by the Territorial Commander of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, Lieutenant Commissioner J. Evan Smith, from the international headquarters of the army, conveys tlie news that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, at a meeting with General and Mrs. Carpenter <m tlie occasion of tlie reception of the English-Speaking Union, paid high tribute to tlte gallant slum sisters of the army. "I pray,” said Her Majesty, “that they may be preserved, for their service is so beautiful anil valuable.” The total number of Salvation Army properties damaged throughout British territory is now 187. A report from one London corps gives some indication as to how difficulties are being overcome by commanding officers. It says: "Every street on our open air plan lias boon damaged.
