Some Recent Meetings The tirst meeting for tin- year of the Rangutaua Women’s Institute was held recently, Mrs. Slater, president, amt Mrs. Bak, vice-president, jointly presiding. A demonstration on the making of flowers from silk and organdie was given by .Mrs. Stretton. A splendid collection of flowers from members’ gardens was enteieri for competition, Mrs. Stretton being the winner. Members ami friends continue to do good work in knitting for soldiers; three parcels were sent to local boy.s oversea-. It was arranged to hold u social for members’ husbands on February 26. Mrs. Tabor welcomed visitors at tinfirst meeting for the year of the Poroutawliao M omen’s Institute. One new member was enrolled. Airs. Tait organized a community sing of popular songs. Competitions were won by Mrs. Carle, Miss J. Penny ami Miss R. Arcus. At a recent meeting of the Alfredton Women’s Institute it was reported that two letters of thanks were re eeived from soldiers overseas, Privates A. Brannigan and 11. Dearth, thanking members for parcels they had received. Mrs. Hull presided at the meeting in the absence of Mrs. S. Edmonds. president. Mrs. E. Hutchings and Miss Jean Algie were appointed delegates to the annual council meeting in April. Competition winners were Mrs. Dickens, Airs. E. McLean, Aliss S. Napier, Airs. R. McKay. Airs. W'alker, of the Collingwood Women's Institute, was thanked for a donation. One new member was welcomed.
