T N order to release male staff for mili- -*• tary duties, the Public Service Commissioner is inviting applications from women, preferably between the ages of twenty years and forty years, for clerical duties for the period of the war. Vacancies are most urgent, in Wellington, Hamilton, Gisborne, Rotorua. Palmerston North, Masterton, and Invercargill, but applications for oilier centres will also be welcomed. Remuneration will be according to age, qualifications' and experience. Salary for suitable appouitees will probably commence at £ll5 or £lO5 per annum in special eases. Where an employee is dependent on her own earnings, a cost of living allowance of £l3 per annum is paid if over eighteen years of age.
