BUTTER BOXES

Extra Demand This Season

Because of the increase in the demand for butter boxes during the present season it has been necessary to arrange with one or two makers to supply the additional boxes required instead of arranging an allocation of the quantity needed among all manufacturers of boxes.

The makers elected to manufacture the boxes needed in addition to those already ordered, but. in order to do so they had to work overtime and pay overtime rates. As there was no power previously to reimburse them lor expenditure in overtime wages it lias been found necessary to bring down amending regulations to allow this to be done. These regulations wore gazetted 1.-rst night.
