Beeause of low tides and calm weather in the north making it. difficult for shooting parties to get near godwits, few good bags have been secured since the season opened on Felirntiry 1. There has been no apparent diminution in tlie number making their way north in preparation for departure in Alarch. Reports from Ninety-Xlile Beach indicate that the few shooters there have done belter than those operating in the Kaipara Harbour areas, but there are no reports of limit bags being secured. The birds are keeping high and well out from the shore. The season will close today.
