ISLAND BAY HOME GUARD
The Island Bay Home Guard unit held a further parade on the grounds ol the island P.av School last night. In place of the usual infantry instruction, lectures were given on phases of held operations. The unit commander. Liontenant D. Y. Gemmell. stressed the necessity for the unit completing its preliminary training as quickly as possible so that more advanced work could be iinderlakcii.
To bring the unit up to effective operational strength, Lieutenant Gemmell asked members to endeavour to enlist two others each. The N.U.O. class will meet at < p.m. on Monday, and the next weekly parade will be on tin* school grounds on J hursday night.
