Feilding Branch’s Annual Meeting Dominion Special Service. FEILDING. February 13. There was a good attendance of members of Party at the annua meeting of the Feikling bra over .by the chairman, Mr. A. GampoeiL Reporting to tho meeting on the past activities, Campbe ll referred to the appointment of Air. J. Nairn a secretary and said he was deserving thanks for his untiring services. -tne chairman recalled that tho national executive of the party had given serious con sideration to the question ot a g ene election and, having mmd the national situation and the crisis facin o the British Empire, had unanimously recorded the opinion that party pohties had no right to be in evidence. The opinion was held that a National Government should be formed to provide for an all-in war effort, and that appeared to be the view of all National Party supporters. That did not appear to appeal to the partv in power, which did not see eye eye with the views of the National Party and had proceeded along its way without, he suggested, regard to the best interests of all. Air Campbell referred to The retirement'of Air. Cobbe, M.P., which had raised the question of his successor. Having in mind the reports of the activity of the Labour Party, it appeared likely that a general election would be held and the National Party would have to prepare accordingly. He expressed his thanks to the committee and to the women’s organization for its splendid and loval support. AA’hen the election of officers was taken Air. Campbell expressed a desire to retire, but on the motion of Messrs. D. L. Younger and AA’. C. Fowler agreed to serve for a further term. Speakers paid a tribute to Air. Campbell's work for the party. The following were elected to represent the branch at the meeting to select a candidate to replace Air. Cobbe : Alessrs. AA . C. Fowler, J. G. Eliott, A. Campbell. A . Lawrence, D. L. Younger, D. Younger, A. Gibson and J. Jamieson. It was announced that seven candidates had been nominated for selection as tlie party s official candidate to contest the Alanawatu
