MINISTER’S REFUSAL
Request About Import Licences The Minister of Customs, Mr. Nash, was approached by the import committee of the Associated Chambers of Commerce early this week witli a request that tlie Minister allow in under fourth-period licences goods which were at the docks on or before November 23 and which were consigned to importers also holding tifth-perwd licences, but which arrived in New Zealand after December 31 instead of before because of extraordinary delays, for war reasons, to tlie vessels carrying them.
After :i full discussion the Minister said be was unable to accede to the request.
