Full Damages Awarded
A verdict for the full amounts claimed was given by a jury of 12 in the Supreme Court, Wellington, in the action In which Alyn James Higgins, factory hand, Seatoun, claimed £2OOO general damages and £3l ( special damages from Robert Charles Cousins, school teacher, Ohingaiti, for injuries received in a collision between a motorcycle he was riding and a car driven by Cousins at the corner of Willis and Gliuznee Streets on January 20, 1940. Both parties alleged negligence. _ Judgment was entered for plaintiff by the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers). , „ Mr. E. Parry, counsel for defendant, was allowed seven days in which to move for arrest of judgment. . Mr. H. F. O’Leary, K.C., with him Mr. J. A. Scott, appeared for plaintiff.
