INDECENT ASSAULT
Two Years’ Hard Labour Imposed (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) HAMILTON, February 12. Found guilty last week ou two counts, first, of indecent assault on a boy of seven .years and, secondly, of au indecent act in a public place, Terence Athol Coleman, aged 35. labourer, was sentenced to two years’ hard labour ou the first charge and ou the. second he was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months by Mr. Justice Smith in the Supreme Court today. It appenred that the offences took place under the influence of alcoholic liquor, said his Honour. In October last year prisoner had been admitted te two yeirrs’ probation for indecent assault on a girl, in tills ease the offence was also committed under the influence of liquor. It was evident that prisoner must be taught a sharp lesson. Douglas Farrence Coles, aged 21. farm hand, committed from Morrinsville on ir charge of rape, was sentenced to lie detained for reformative purposes for a period not exceeding three years.
