HUGE AUDIENCE FOR CHURCHILL
Broadcast Considered Most Effective Ever Made
(British Official Wireless.!
RUGBY, February 10.
Mr. Churchill, in his broadcast, directly addressed one of the largest audiences any statesman has yet reached, and reproductions of his speech have since been heard in the remotest parts of the world. The speech is regarded in official and unofficial quarters in Washington as the most effective radio address ever delivered.
In the United States the speech, following on the endorsement by the House of Representatives of the Lend and ljea.se Bill, will, it is believed, give immense impetus to the movement to supply all possible aid to Britain. In countries near home that tire suffering under the Nazi yoke, particularly France, to which Mr. Churchill offered words of sympathy and encouragement, it will, it is believed, give fresh heart. It is known that the broadcast and reports of the speech in translation ■ had large audiences throughout France.
