RHODES AND TRIPOLI RAIDED BY R.A.F.

RUGBY, February It). A Royal Air Force (Middle East) communique states: — “On the night of February 8-9, the aerodromes at Calato and Maritza, in the Island of Rhodes (Dodecanese) were raided by R.A.F. bombers. Bombs were dropped on a number of aircraft dispersed on the lauding ground at Calato, causing heavy explosions and two large fires. , “On the same night aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm carried out a successful raid on Tripoli. Bombs tell ou the seaplane station, where a hangar was set on fire.” It is announced that Malta was raided on the night of February 7-8, and a iiumber of bombs were dropped. There were no R.A.F. casualties or damage. In the communique ot rebruary o it was stated that one British lighter was missing. This aircraft lias now icturned to its base. During the night of February 8-J Malta was raided by a considerable force of enemy aircraft. Damage was caused to private property and a few civilians were injured. Two ,lUbb> were shot down and another was probably damaged. A message from Malta says , that since Italy’s entry into the war there have been' 300 air raids against the island.
