AUCKLAND COMMENT
Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND, February 11.
“Inquiries from many sources fail to reveal that any intimation has been received by tobacconists that there is a shortage of tobacco or the possibility of a scheme of rationing being introduced,” stated Mr. R. M. Martin, secretary of the Auckland District Retail Tobacconists’ Association, today. “The position as far as the association is concerned,” he said, “is much the same as it was six months ago. From time to time slight factory shortages occur, but these rectify themselves within a matter of days. No source on the manufacturing side has had any intimation that a shortage of supplies exists.”
