WAIRARAPA RIVERS
In High Flood Again
During Night MAIN ROAD BLOCKED Dominion Special Service. MASTERTON, February 5. After falling to a moderate level following yesterday afternoon’s floods, the Wninhine River last night rose even higher than it did daring the day. So high was the flood that the slopbank at Ahikouka was breached and the main road flooded to such a depth that ears were unable to pass. The Waingawn River last night rose in high flood, and the Rminiahanga ran very high, carrying great quantities ot silt and logs. By today the levels of belli rivers had reverted baek toxxaius a more normal one. Possibly because of some interference with the filter system by the floodwaters, the Masterton water supply last night was heavily impregnated with silt. J his morning the mains were opened by the in.rough council staff and flushed to take off the silt, and the filter trouble was attended to.
