AUSTRALIA’S WAR EFFORT

Menzies Gives Figures LONDON, February 4. Mr. Menzies, the Australian Prime Minister, who is in Palestine visiting Australian troops, said yesterday that the Britisli victories, in which the Australian troops had played a distinguished part, foreshadowed the complete breaking up of Mussolini’s Italian empire. Giving figures of Australia’s big war effort, he said that the expenditure for one year was only a little less than the total'expenditure during the whole of the last war. Australia had 8000 pilots in training, he said, and 150,000 munition workers, compared with 2700 in the last war. In the recent Eastern Group Supply Conference at Delhi, there was one of the biggest war-time developments in that part of the world. Australia, lie said, was pursuing the decisions reached during that conference.
