BOWLS TOURNAMENTS

Patriotic Funds Benefit At the Wellington Bowling Club last Saturday, 20 rinks played in an all-day tournament, and eight rinks in the afternoon had a subsidiary competition. Tlifl.'tournaments realized £lB/7/6, and the national patriotic funds will benefit by this: amount. The donated prize-money was returned by the winners and runnersj up. The all-day tournament was won by M. Rafter, C- Haigh, D. H. Wilmot, A. Pollock (s.), who beat A. Kenney, Lamason, W. Waddel, J. H. O'Donnell (s.), in the final game of fire ends by 8-7. The afternoon competition was won by E. J. Hyams, H. Gibb, B. Thomson, Penlington (s.).

From the weekend rink tournament.' held by the Eastbourne club, in 14 rinks played, the national pafiiptie. funds will also receive quite a good'con-' tribution, including the proceeds from the sale of a donated war bond, purchased eventually by Mr. S. F. Fisher. The winning rink consisted of S. Fleming. M. Meo, D. Hall. C. L. Bishop (s.), who beat J. Zachariah, W. Perry, D. N. Isaacs, J. Cook (s.), by 5 to 2 in the final game. The Karori Bowling Club’s patriotic tournament was also strongly supported, all rinks being occupied and the series of games keenly contested. The tournament, decided on the points system, was won by 8. Field, C. H. Hain, A. St. J. Parsons, and H. D. Field (s.), each of whom received a decorated cake, given by Mr. A.' Dixon.
