Superintendents Confer (By 'Telegraph—Press Association.) OAMARU, February -I. The annual conference of superintendents of parks ami reserves commenced this morning. Mr. John Tail, curator of the Oamaru Public Gardens, read a paper on the functions ami work of beautifying societies, and paid a very high tribute to the splendid work carried out by the Oamaru beautifying Society in the beautification of the town and the creation in the people of a sense of appreciation of the beautiful. The following oilicers were elected: President, Mr. G. A. Mitchell, chairman of the reserves committee, Oamaru Borough Council; vice-presi-dent, Mr P. Blick (Palmerston North); secretary and treasurer, Mr. D. Tannock (Dunedin); committee, Messrs. T. Aldridge (Auckland), T. Horton (New Plymouth), J. G. MacKenzie (Wellington), M. J. Barnett.
