GERMAN AIR RAIDS IN WESTERN DESERT
Italian Communique LONDON, February 2. An Italian communique claims that the German air force operating in the Mediterranean bombed iSollum and Bardia and sank a 10,000-ton vessel in Bardia harbour, and also sank three ships and damaged three others with bombs along the (North African coast. It adds: “There is nothing of importance to report from Libya, where the air force bombed enemy troops and the enemy raided our air bases, some damage being done. Bitter fighting occurred yesterday in East Africa between Agordat and Barentu. Our air force participated in fighting, bombing, and machine-gunning enemy positions and columns.”
