BORDER CROSSED BY SOUTH AFRICANS
Task Of Abyssinian Patriots LONDON. February 3. Though faced with the task of overcoming all sorts of obstacles, the army of Abyssinian patriots is advancing deeper into Ethiopia. The greatest single advance without sleep was 12 miles. At night the Abyssinians have to face bitter cold and during the day they have to march under the merciless African sun. British Imperial troops advancing from Kenya are faced with an equally hazardous task. They have now reached the country which has been their objective for six months. With machine-guns ready to deal with any Italian native irregulars, they have crossed the frontier east of Lake Rudolph. It is a region rarely visited by white men. The Italians have been taken completely by surprise by this advance, and the South African troops are now nearer to Addis Ababa than to their base at Nairobi.
