WOOL VALUES

Otago Appraisement (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, January 31. An offering of 28,442 bales came forward for the third Otago wool appraisement of the season, completed today. A good percentage of the representative offering comprised back country clips, and it can be attributed to the season that the wool generally was heavy in grease. Naturally this ha'd a bearing on the prices, and the top price of ’he appraisement was 20d., secured by two bales of super merino, grown by GJ. Paterson (Bimmerburn), compared with 21d. brought by a bale of super merino at the December appraisement. The official report states that the quality of the wool on offer was representative of the province, the display including merinos and crossbreds. Some of the crossbreds opened up in excellent condition, specially lots from irrigate'd areas in Central Otago. South Otago, and Tapanui districts. Merinos and halfbreds were generally well grown, but were heavier in grease, this being accounted for by the favourable season. No official range was issued
