MODERATE SCORING ON FIRST DAY
Dominion Special Service. AVANGANUI, December 30. The weather was perfect today for the first day of the cricket match between the Auckland touring side and the Danganui representative team. . Winning the toss, M auganui batted first and after an uncertain start was not disposed of till 262 runs had been scored. S. Niinmo, a YVanganui technical College player, batted impressively tor 60 not out and was top scorer for his side. C. Burke, the Auckland slow bowler, took five wickets for 52. Excellent bowling by H. B. Caie, a Wanganui Collegiate .School player, and W. Dyhrberg, an old boy o£ Wellington College, held the Auckland batsmen in check, and at stumps the visitors had nine wickets down for 176. V. bcott, the Auckland Plunket Shield player, was top scorer with 40. Cave took five wickets for 44 and Dyhrberg two for 8. Play will be resumed tomorrow.
