Mr. S. C. Exley, Wellington, who has been in Australia for the last two weeks, returned to New Zealand by air on Friday.

Mr. R. G. Bennett:, manager of the Bank of Australasia, Auckland, has left by llying-boat on a visit to Sydney and Melbourne.

Mr. W. M. Briton, who for the past 30 years has been secretary and surveyor of the Otago and Southland Fire and Accident Underwriters’ Association, will retire tomorrow. Captain H. L. Garland, officer iu charge of records at the Hamilton area military headquarters, has been transferred to the northern military district headquarters at Auckland. Mr. G. W. Adamson, formerly accountant in the Chief Bost Office, Invercargill, and subsequently accountant in Dunedin, lias been promoted to the position of deputy-chief postmaster, Dunedin. Mr. A. Gordon, Hiunillon, Dominion president of the New Zealand National Party, tore tlie ligament of a leg while playing tennis at Waihi Beach late last week. He will be incapacitated for some weeks.

Dr. George Stewart, Stamford, Connecticut. arrived at. Auckland by I lie Mariposa on Friday on his way to .Melbourne, where he is to be visiting minister for three months at: Scots Church under tlie terms of the Turnbull trust.

Major J.. T. Wileock, who served with the New Zealand forces in tlie last war ami who lias been in the Indian Army service since 1918, arrived at Auckland on Friday by the transtasinan tlyiug-boat Awarua. He will spend three mouths’ special leave in New Zealand.

Cominamicr Roger It. Gibb. R.N. (retired I, who lias been a member of the architectural staff of the Public Works Department. Invercargill, for the past IS months, has received notice of bis transfer to Wellington. He will leave to take up his new duties early in January.

Mr. Oscar Natzko, the New Zealand basso, who took part in the Centennial Music Festival a few months ago ; has returned to Au.jkliind after fulfilling au engagement in Australia. He may give some recitals in New Zealand before leaving for the United States of America.
