YACHT CAPSIZES

Evans Bay Mishap SEA-SCOUTS TO RESCUE Watchers on the Evans Bay foreshore witnessed some smart seamanship yesterday afternoon, when in a fresh northerly breeze a centreboard yacht capsized off Kio Bay, and its crew was rescued by a party of seascouts in a whaleboat. The yacht was the Takapuna Torment. from Evans Bay. which had sailed round to Balaeiia Bay earlier in the day. She was running back to the head of the bay when a heavy squall, bringing with it some steep little seas, overtook iier and she capsized. There were two boys in her at the time. The mishap caught the attention of the Raukawa Sea-Scouts, w ho were out for a row in their whaler: and they went to the rescue. Some skilful manoeuvring took place, the yacht was cleared of her canvas, righted and tak' en in tow, and the sea-scouts took Iter round to the lee of the Patent Slip, to her headquarters. They had sifterwards a hearty pull home against wind and weather.

The seamanship of the boys, in a moderate wind and quite a jobble of sea, elicited the admiration of watchers ashore.
