TO MEET STRICKLAND
Richards Ready To Come To New Zealand Dominion Special Service PALMERSTON N., December 28. A reply was today received by Mr. Charlie Lucas from Mr. Jack Munro, manager of Ron Richards, the Australian light-heavyweight, that Richards is prepared to meet Maurice Strickland in New Zealand. "The whole matter now hinges on whether Richards can get his money out of New Zealand,” said Mr. Lucas, "and though the purse will have to be heavy, J still think the bout will lake place.
“I want to correct the impression that I am promoting the fight,” added Mr. Lucas. ‘‘Under the rules of the New Zealand Boxing Council, bouts can only be promoted by an alfiliated association, and as an individual I am deburred from arranging any matches, and all I. can do is to assist an association in staging bouts under their auspices."
