Dunedin Summer Meeting Concludes NOT OUT’S FINE RACE Dominion Special Service. DUNEDIN, December 28. 9’hc Dunedin summer meeting concluded in fine weather, and attracted a large attendance. The meeting is entitled to take rank as the most succots-sful summer meeting held at Wingatui. The totalizator handled £25,-182, compared with L 22.052 10/- for the second day last jear. lhe total for the meeting was £52,069. Last year the meeting spread over three days. 'The well-backed Rue got badly away iu tiie Novice Handicap, in which each of the placed lot paid well over double figures. Divorced, the favourite for the Juvenile Handicap, was slow away, and Desert Maid won from Palfrey and Southern Wave. Spendthrift got tip in the last stride to beat Lord Nuffield and Spanish Lad in lhe Grandstand Handicap. St. Cloud looked a winner at the distance, but stopped. Not Out won all the way in the St. Andrew’s Handicap, and went close to the track record for a mile at Wingatui. Pleading lost a sure win in the Fernhill Handicap by missing the jump out after a delay at lhe post. He came with a great run in the straight to get up and make a dead-heat with Craiglea. Boloyna and Happy Night both won well. No action was taken after a further inquiry into Hearth’s running on the first day, but strong disapproval was expressed in connexion with the matter, though the evidence did not warrant anything beyond the nature of a warning.
