REINFORCEMENTS IN DESERT
Captured Italian Lorries Employed (Received I tecember 39. 12.31) a.m.' LONDON/December 28. Apparently unending lines of lorries are sli.ll pouring men and materials westward from the Libyan frontier for reinforcement of General Wavell's forces investing Bardia. A large proportion of these lorries were captured from the Italians and Hie British drivers declare that the vehicle- are excellent. An Italian prisoner stated that the commander at Bardia was preparing to evacuate when tin urgent order was received dire from Signor Mu-solini to defend lhe town a! all costs. The Cairo correspondent of the Associated I’ress says Marshal Graziani has sent thousands of men to throw tip additional fortifications al Tobruk, and the defence of Bardia is designed to enable lhe completion of the work
