CALLED TO SERVICE
Belgians In United States LONDON, December 26. The Belgian Consul-General in New York has called upon all Belgians in the United States between the ages of 19 and 25, and aH reserve officers, to report for military service. The announcement also said that Belgians in other countries not occupied by the Germans must obey this decree and report to their nearest consuls. Volunteers between the ages of 16 and 19 and between 25 and 36 will also be accepted for service with Belgian units now being formed to reinforce those already straining with the Allies’ armies.
In Belgium itself the German-con-trolled Brussels radio has warned the population that textiles and leather are to be rationed. All wholesalers and retailers of these goods in Belgium are ordered to make an inventory of their stocks, and for this purpose retail shops will remain closed till next Wednesday.- Meanwhile, no textile or leather goods are to be sold, and anyone infringing this order will be heavily punished.
