T'wo of btinediii’s outstanding young golfers will soon be leaving for active service with the British Navy. One of them is T. AV. Wight, a former Otago ehampioiij and a son of W. G. Wight, Hie jiresent Otago club champion. T. W. Wight twice got into file final of lite club championship, and played so many brilliant stroke rounds that his handicap was recently reduced to scratch. I’. J. Gill, who was runnerup to W. G. Wight in the Otago club championship this year, is to join a different branch of the navy. He has been selected for training as a member of the Fleet Air Arm. Gill holds the Bruntsfield medal, which is virtually the stroke championship of tlie Otago club, and is at present on a handicap of II A member of the Invercargill Golf Club, D. F. Davis, lias also joined the Navy and has arrived in England.
