Y.M.C.A. SOLDIERS' TEA
Nursing Sisters' Gift
The soldiers’ tea at the Wellington Y.M.C.A. was well attended last Sunday by men from all arms of the Ser-
vices. The tea was a gift to the men from Sister Horrell, of the New Zea-
land Army Nursing Service, and who is attached to the -Irh Reinforcements of the N.Z.E.F. Members of the ladies’ auxiliary of the Wellington Y.M.C.A. were responsible for the preparation ami the serving of tho tea, and Mr. Arnold Downer aeted as chairman. The hull was festively decorated, and the singing of carols by members of the Taranaki Street Methodist Church Choir created a very happy Christmas atmosphere. Members of the choir taking part in the carols were: Mr. and Mrs. B. Stokes, Mr. and Mrs. B. Gardiner, Mrs. L. A. McAlister, Miss J. Sutherland, Miss F. Eadie, Mr. V. R. Bennett and Mr. K. 1-1. B. Strong. Vocal solos were given by Mrs. A. Downer and Mr. K. H. B. Strong. A community sing, led by -Mr. J. White and accompanied by Mr. Maun, was very much enjoyed by the men. In a happy little speech one of the men expressed the great appreciation of those present for the happy time they had had, and three cheers and musical honours for the donor of the tea and the kind friends who had come to sing to them brought a very happy evening to a close.
