Vice-Regal. His Excellency the Governor-General presided aft a meeting of the standing committee of the National Patriotic Fund Board yesterday morning. Last evening his Excellency attended by Captain Lord Dormer, A.D.C., left Wellington by steamer express tor Christchurch, where he is to fulfil several engagements. Lord Galway will return to Wellington on Tuesday morning.

Major-General Sir Andrew Russell, KC.B., K.C.MG., Inspector-General of the (N.Z.) Military Forces, left Wellington for the South Island by last night’s steamer express. The Hons. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, M.L.C., J. Goodall, M.L.C., and G. RHunter, M.L.C., left Wellington for the south by last night’s steamer express. The Hon. Mr. Justice Northcroft loft Wellington for the south by last night’s steamer express. The Hon. Mr. Justice Blair will preside at the session of the Supreme Court opening in Hamilton on October 15. Mr. H. D. Aclund, president of the New Zealand Sheepowuers’ Federation, who lias been visiting Wellington, returned to Christchurch last night. The Rev. I’. W. Mr. N. B. Spencer and Mr. A. M. Seammi have been appointed representatives of the Auckland Chamber ot Commerce on the executive of the //T eiated Chambers of Commerce for 1941. Dr. E. P. Allen, formerly of Now Plymouth, lias arrived from England to' take up the post of radiologist at the New Plymouth Hospital, in succession to Dr. A. G. Cooper, who has returned to Australia. Mr. George Stunt, of the Post and Telegraph Department, who has been associated with aerial construction and (bo erection of radio station towers throughout the Dominion for the past 25 years, was recently presented with an illuminated address by his fellowworkers on the. occasion of his retirement. Mr. Stunt, will reside in Featherston.
