COOL STORAGE PROBLEM
“As a result of present war conditions, the question of the cool storage accommodation at freezing works throughout the Dominion has been discussed at recent meetings of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board,” says a statement issued by the board last night.
“During the last few years, our meat exports have been gradually increasing, and though a certain amount of extra storage has been provided, it has not been commensurate with the additional kill, and under present abnormal conditions, the matter has been giving considerable anxiety to the board. ■ . , . “Having regard to the importance of bavin" adequate cool storage, it has now been decided by the Primary Industries Controller to caU a meeting of all freezing companies, to be held in Wellington next Wednesday, July 10. , “In tlie opinion of the board, nothing could be more disastrous to the farming community than the inability to kill their fat stock owing to freezing works’ cool stores being congested.”
