£23 Raised for Red Cross. Misses Perrv had a successful afternoon for Red Cross funds at their home in Lower Hutt, recently. In spite of cold weather, many were present and enjoyed tlie exhibition of pictures, many sketches being sold. Fires and bright Howers made the rooms, warm and attractive. Afternoon tea was served by Miss Blackburn and Misses Jones and others. The result of the afternoon was £23 for the Red Cross funds.

Popular Bridge Party. The Ladies’ Harbour Lights Guild, Wellington, held one of its popular bridge parties yesterday at the mission. The room was crowded and looked very bright decorated with iceland poppies and hydrangeas. Afternoon tea was supplied by the committee. Tlie president, Mrs. Harley Brown, welcomed the guests and thanked them for their interest, in the mission. Thanks are accorded to Messrs. Seoullar and Williams for tlie use of carpets,, tables and chairs.

For Soldiers’ Parcels. Between 30 and 40 tables have been arranged for a bridge party in aid of soldiers’ parcels to be given this afternoon by the Oriental Bay-Roseneatli branch of the Women’s National Reserve in tlie English-Speaking Union rooms. The members have decided to hold these gatherings every fortnight.

Euchre Tournament. Another of the series of euchre tournaments being held by the FoxtonMoutoa Football Club for the Patriotic. Committee’s funds, took p’aec in tlie Town Hall supper-room recently. An enjoyable evening was spent by ■those present and tlie winners of prizes were: Mrs. J. S. Shorthouse 1 (Mrs. Shorthouse gave the prize back to the club), Mrs. R. Cochran 2.

Treasury Ball. Invitations have teen issued for the fifteenth annual Treasury Ball, which Is to be held next week in the New Majestic Cabaret, Wellington.

Gift of £lOO Received. Mrs. J. W. Gutbrie presided at the meeting of the Mothers' Helpers in ellington on Monday. Those present were Mesdames 11. Barns, 'Winton Brown, B. S. Lyon, Macfiirland, 11. Turner and M. Reid. The committee gratefully acknowledged a gift, of £lOO from the proceeds of the recent art union, and donations from Lady Myers, Mrs. R. A. Davison and Mrs. Charles Levin. President Honoured.

The members of the Miramar branch of (lie New Zealand Labour Party, together with the member for the district, the lion. R. Semple, and Mrs. Semple, held a social evening recently for the purpose of expressing in some tangible form their appreciation of the services rendered by Die past-president, Mr. C. .1. Iftry, during his 13 years’ tenure of office. The presentation, winch was made by Mr. Semple, took the form of a chiming clock. Mrs. Hay was also the recipient of a spray of flowers from Mrs. Semple.
