He was ordered to be deported at the first opportunity. Accused admitted -he offence. ~ , , ~ It was stated on behalf of the Customs Department that Hausen, who was a Norwegian, came to Now Zealand as one of the crew of an oil tanker. M ben nw ship sailed he remained in rhe Dominion in spite of having been refused permission to do so. Thomas Ethel Griffiths, labourer, aged 62. was sentenced to a months jail on a charge of using indecent language. He pleaded not guilty. On the application of Deteeiive-Ser-geant P. Doyle. Lawrence Alexander Frederickson, barman, aged 32. was remanded to appear in Wellington again on July Ml. He was charged that, on June 24. 1910. in Wellington, with intent to defraud, lie did obtain from Mildred Carey Hobbs, £l5 in money by falsely representing that he was a member of the N'W Zealand Police Force.
