WELLINGTON BOXING
The Wellington Boxing Association, which is showing commendable enterprise this season, will stage another New Zealand professional title contest, in the Town Hall on Thursday night. This will be a battle for the light-heavyweight title, left vacant by the recent tragic death of Stan Jenkin. The contestants will be Cliff Ilanham, Waimate, and George Allen. Gisborne. They will fight out for the title over 15 three-minute rounds. The contest should be full of action, as both men are rugged, ami can hit hard with either hand. Both had successful careers as amateurs. Hanham has had some notable successes since joining the cash ranks, and he promises to go far in the game. Allen is well known in Wellington, as he carried off the amateur junior welterweight title some four years ago. He annexed the middleweight championship shortly after turning professional. a title he afterward lost to Ilanham. They. therefore, should be thoroughly familiar with each other's styles, and there should be something doing in every round. Bright amateur bouts will precede the professional contest.
