HOME DEFENCE PLAN
Fordell Deputation To Minister Dominion Special Service. WANGANUI, June 18. Suggestions for home defence were considered ata meeting of residents of Fordell and district last night, presided over by -Mr. D. Sutherland. Speakers included the M.P. for Raugitikei, Mr. Gordon, and Messrs. F. K. Turnbull, F. O. Fltzmauriee, and W. S. McUrorie. The meeting carried a motion that, though approving of New Zealand’s war effort overseas, residents of Fordell and district, were willing and anxious to co-operate with the defence authorities in an organization for home defence. It was decided to send a deputation to wait on the Minister of Defence, Air. Jones, ami submit, suggestions for a home defence scheme. 'The deputation will ItK-.hidfe Messrs. Gordon, D.
