Tlie dangers of alcoholic excess among tlie young people of New Zealand were emphasized by Bishop Liston in Sacred Heart Church, P.iesoiiby. Auckland, when a large number of children were presented for confirmation. Bishop Liston asked the parents of tlie children confirmed to encourage them to abstain entirely from strong drink till reaching the age of 21. This admonition was in accordance with the decision of Hie Roman Catholic archbishops and bishops at a council held recently in Sydney.
