BRITAIN TO TAKE DELIVERY

U.S. Planes For France WILL TAKE OVER ALL FRENCH ORDERS (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) WASHINGTON, June 17. The British Government is to take delivery of more than 3100 war planes ordered by France and nowunder construction. The Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. H. Morgenthau, said that the head of the Allied Purchasing Mission, Air. A. Purvis, had informed him that the British would take over all French war contracts in the United States if the manufacturers would agree. The French contracts arc estimated to total 500,000,000 dollars. The United States has given authority for planes intended for the Allies to be flown across American borders.

Sir Nevile Henderson, former Ambassador to Germany, in a speech at Lincoln, said: — “I expect that Hitler will attempt to invade Britain in June or July rather than in August or September. The Nyasaland Protectorate has offered to donate each year to Britain’s war cause the whole amount by which the surplus balances exceed those reached at January 1, 1939.
