Armed Forces In Territory Statements have been recently made to the effect that if Holland was invaded there would be no longer a Dutch Government and the Netherlands East Indies might fall a victim to any predatory power. In connexion with these statements. made for the obvious reason of emphasizing the potential danger to any colonial territory cut off from its motherland, an authority on colonial administration points out that the Netherlands Indies are not by any means undefended. In fact, there are not inconsiderable naval, military and air forces in the country mid, its defence system being based on the principle of acting independently of the home country, it can be expected that any invasion of Holland would not diminish the determination of Ihe Colonial Government to defend Ihe territory to Ihe utmost.
