First General Meeting Of Wellington Club The first general meeting of the Wellington Weight-Lifters’. Club, an amateur organization, was held on Friday night: at the elub gymnasium. There was an excellent muster of •menrbers. The foliowing officers were elected :— Secretary, Mr. J. B. Nightiugali; treasurer, Mr. V, Hull; assistant secretary, Mr. B. S. Leydon; club captain, Mr. T. Nightiugali; instructors, Messrs. C. Nelson and R. Lei per. A vote of thanks was passed to the secretary for his efforts in placing the club on i'ts preseibt sound footing. The aims of tile elub were outlined ami unanimously accepted. The club decided to eoncer.trnte on body-building with the idea cd producing lifters of championship clas:-. and also that it. should remain on a strictly timaletir basis. The first lifting contest, of the year was conducted before the meeting. This was the first of a series of contests 10 be hold monthly till the end of lite year, when al. least; two eups will be presented —one io the most: improved lifter, and one to the lifter showing the best average ou Austin formulae. This will give the beginners and also the more experienced lifters a chance of winning one of these cups. T. Nightiugali showed good form by winning I his contest on Austin formulae, but: was very closely followed by E. Probelt, who is I'till showing marked improvement. and should do well in the cbit’mpionsliips this year. Results ol the
