DESERTED FROM SHIP IN 1937
Seaman Sent To Jail When Harry Wynne Allan, seaman, aged 38, was arrested in Wellington for drunkenness on February 12, the police discovered that, he had deserted from an overseas vessel, the Empire Star, at Wellington, on August 22, 1937. A warrant for his arrest was issued on .September 3, 1937. Allan admitted having deserted from the Empire Star when he appeared before Mr. Sloot, S.M.. in Ihe Magisl ral es' Court, Wellington, yesterday. He was sentenced to 11 days' jail with hard labour, and was convicted and discharged for drunkenness.
